A basketball club's website rebuilt so parents can actually find what they need
Season dates, fees and fixtures readable by people and by Google, and registrations taken on the club's own site.

The problem
Varsity Vipers is a junior basketball club on the Gold Coast — more than 500 players, over 50 teams, run by volunteers.
Everything a parent needed was on the old site as a picture. Session times, fees, key dates, age groups: all images. A parent standing at a venue on their phone had to squint at them, and Google could not read them at all, so the club was invisible for every search that did not include its name. There were no page descriptions anywhere, two links in the menu went to pages that did not exist, and registrations ran off a separate portal on another address.
What we did
- Rebuilt the site from scratch, and turned every one of those images into real text and tables — season dates, fees, age groups, session times and full fixtures
- Built a help centre of 47 articles with a search box, replacing FAQs scattered over three pages
- Brought registration onto the club's own site, with payments, the family fee cap worked out server-side, and receipts sent automatically
- Published the awards archive going back six seasons, and rebuilt the partners page with a working enquiry form
- Fixed the search basics that were never there: real page titles and descriptions, a sitemap, and 24 old addresses redirected to their new homes
- Moved the site onto its own domain without interrupting the club's email for a minute
The result
The club's own information is now readable — by a parent on a phone at the courts, by Google, and by AI search engines that were previously handed a picture.
Registrations run on the club's site instead of a third-party portal. In the first seven hours they were open, 25 families signed up and paid.
Search is groundwork, not a finished job. Structured data and social preview images are still to come, and there is no ranking data yet to point at.
