The challenge

Evolved Solar & Electrical install solar, batteries and electrical work across the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers. The director, Steven Hord, is a licensed Master Electrician and an accredited solar installer. The business does its own electrical work rather than subcontracting it.

None of that was showing up in search. At the February 2026 benchmark, the site drew 24 clicks and 847 impressions in 28 days, from 96 different searches. Around 90 per cent of the clicks came from people who already typed the business name.

The site had structural problems underneath. Its structured data described a different business, a similarly named operator in northern New South Wales. Seven pages returned errors. Blog posts were taking the searches that service pages should have won. The phone number on the site did not match the Google Business Profile.

The strategy

Fix the foundations before chasing rankings. Tell Google exactly what the business is, where it works and who stands behind the advice. Then build the pages that answer what local buyers search for.

The work

We kept the site on Squarespace and rebuilt the pages that mattered. We redirected the seven broken pages, cleaned up duplicate redirects and fixed the errors Google reported in Search Console. We replaced the homepage video with drone footage and fixed the contrast on the service page headers.

We rewrote the site's structured data so it describes Evolved Solar, not the other business. It now sets out the business type, opening hours and the suburbs served, and names Steven as the author of the site's advice. We made the trading name the same everywhere.

We expanded the FAQs page from eight questions to twenty, written so people and AI tools can both use the answers. We added copy to the hybrid and battery page and the switchboard upgrades page. We built a Burleigh Heads suburb page and wrote an article on the Queensland battery rebate.

We set the site up for AI search. We made sure AI crawlers can read every page and published an llms.txt file that tells AI tools what the business does and where it works. We added structured data that names Steven and his licence, and FAQ markup on the battery and switchboard pages, so AI answers can quote the site with confidence.

We published five real installs as project pages, in Currumbin Waters, Loganholme, Molendinar, Mudgeeraba and Pimpama. We optimised all 28 photos, gave each one a descriptive name and alt text, and checked every image for privacy before it went live.

We rebuilt the green loans page with checked rates, fees and eligibility, an FAQ and the credit disclaimer it had never had. We checked every lender's product against the lender's own page on the day it published. We also removed a savings claim that had no evidence behind it.

We added Google Business Profile categories for electrician, electrical installation, equipment supply and EV charging, so the listing covers all the work the business does. We also replied to its reviews.

Google Search Console data (Sep 2026)

Where it landed

Evolved Solar now has a redesigned website with real solar installs on it. It ranks ahead of longer-established competitors in Google's map pack for local searches. Traffic and enquiries now come from local buyers.

We wrote the site's FAQs and articles so AI search can quote them. In the three months to 24 October 2026, its pages appeared about 2,600 times in Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, led by the switchboard upgrades guide.

FAQ

Can a small installer rank against the big solar brands?

Not on broad searches, and not quickly. On suburb and product searches, yes. Evolved Solar ranked ahead of installers with far more reviews for "solar installer Burleigh Heads" on 4 August 2026.

Does structured data matter?

Yes. Structured data tells Google what your business is, where it works and who runs it, so Google does not have to guess. Evolved Solar's site was describing a different company, and no amount of new content would have fixed that.

Do you need a new website before SEO?

Not always. Evolved Solar stayed on Squarespace. We rebuilt the pages that mattered, fixed the structure underneath and gave the site pages worth ranking.
